Solardam is a research consortium of researchers from universities and research institutes in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area: UvA, VU, FOM Institute AMOLF and ECN. Together, the Solardam partners form a consortium of about 100 researchers. The excellent stance of the scientists involved can be understood from the significant number of prestigious grants that were acquired: 3 ERC Advanced grants, 2 ERC Consolidator grants, 3 ERC Starting grants, 8 NWO Vici grants.
In 2015 the consortium received its first funding from the UvA-VU Amsterdam Academic Alliance (AAA) fund, to be used for seed projects intended to lead to mature research lines. Results of these projects will form a solid basis to acquire funding from national and international funding agencies to further expand the energy research program in Amsterdam.
All partners have strong and largely complementary expertise in scientific disciplines relevant to energy research, such as nanophotonics, photovoltaics, catalysis and photocatalysis, photosynthesis and multi-scale modeling.
